Leadership Impact

Over the course of Kathleen’s professional development, she has sought advice, learned strategies, and applied wisdom from mentors, leaders and elders from various paths and perspectives in the journey of life. Their impact on Kathleen’s leadership development has influenced her to be an impactful leader in Nevada’s economic, business development, and governance arenas. Kathleen applies transformative principles to enhance her capabilities to lead collaboratively with her peers and beside her peers. To enhance the development of her transformative leadership style, Kathleen completed a leadership development course at Harvard University, Exercising Leadership: Foundational Principles, in 2021 to develop organizational leadership principles and practices.

 

Kathleen’s diligence to lead has influenced the transformation of individuals to apply a good-better-best mindset to achieve success via her mentorship skills. Kathleen’s drive to lead has impacted the growth of Nevada’s business ecosystem via her work with the Nevada Women’s Business Center, SBA-Nevada district office, and Nevada Department of Business and Industry. Kathleen’s discipline to lead has influenced systems and processes of governance statewide via her leadership activities as a legislative and Governor appointed Commissioner and advisory board member.

 

Business & Entrepreneur Development

Kathleen’s commitment to sustain the viability of Nevada’s business ecosystem is evident in her 13 years of experience in entrepreneur and small business development. As a former business owner, Kathleen understands the challenges and dynamics of start-up and established businesses. That insight enhances her ability to apply a strategic, analytical, and creative approach to impact business growth and entrepreneur development in Nevada’s economic and workforce development sectors.

 

This is reflected in her role with the Nevada Women’s Business Center, her work with the SBA-Nevada district office, Clark county Small business Outreach Program (SBOP), the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau region 9, her involvement with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) southern Nevada chapter, and her collaboration with resource partners within Nevada’s business ecosystem. Kathleen is actively involved with the Armed Forces Chamber of Commerce and co-hosts the Urban Chamber of Commerce radio show, Commerce First, with Deputy Director, Marcel Schaerer, of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry to promote business resources and services for Nevada’s small business communities.

 

Governance Influence 

Kathleen’s influence in the governance arena features her roles as a Governor appointed Commissioner for the Nevada Commission for Women, a former legislative appointed Commissioner for the Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs, and legislative appointed member for the NDOT Advisory Work Group demonstrates her ability to lead collaboratively, support initiatives for women in leadership, and provide resources for diverse communities in Nevada’s economic, business, and workforce development industries.

 

Kathleen is a Magna cum laude graduate of the distinguished HBCU, Grambling University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
