The NAWBO Southern Nevada Women of Distinction Awards  (WODA) recognize achievements of women in business. These awards highlight accomplishments of women business owners who are building a legacy for the next generation of leaders.

Nominations will honor women business leaders who have shown outstanding accomplishments in our community. All awards & grants are designed to recognize achievements across a wide range of business categories.

Entrepreneur

The Entrepreneur award recognizes a woman who has built a solid foundation for her business and is now experiencing rapid growth and significant expansion opportunity by strengthening her leadership capacity and developing new market opportunities.

Nominees should own 50% or more of their Southern Nevada business.

 

Rising Star

The Rising Star award recognizes an emerging leader whose record reflects ongoing and exceptional growth in contribution to the profession and increased levels of leadership, responsibility, and community impact.

Nominees should either be in their first 5 years of business or recently entered a new industry.

 

Glass Ceiling

The Glass Ceiling award recognizes a woman who holds a senior executive position (i.e., VP, SVP, EVP, C-Suite).  She demonstrates leadership excellence, maintains a record of accomplishments in her areas of expertise, bears a record of a steady increase in responsibility within her career, and consistently displays integrity in her role among colleagues and peers.

Grant Nomination Categories

Woman of Distinction Grant

The Woman of Distinction Grant is to be awarded to a small women owned business in its entrepreneurial phase. This company is less than three years old and is now experiencing rapid growth and significant expansion opportunity by strengthening their leadership capacity and developing new market opportunities.

Nominees should own 50% or more of their Southern Nevada business.

This grant amount of $3,000 would help this Entrepreneur level up in our business community.

 

Community Angel Grant

The Community Angel is an emerging leader in the philanthropic and community service arena. Their focus is having a direct impact on the Las Vegas local community and this grant would help further their cause. They exemplify a record of contribution, leadership and community impact.

Non-Profit should primarily service women and/or children in Southern Nevada.

There are two grants awarded in the amount of $1,500 each and would help this non-profit further their ability to contribute to our community.

 

Minority Woman Owned Business Grant

The Minority Woman Owned Business Grant recognizes and supports the growth of diverse and minority-run small businesses. This grant will go to a minority woman owned business in Southern Nevada (which may include minority women, people with ethnic and diverse backgrounds, sexual orientation, and those with disabilities).

Nominees should own 50% or more of their Southern Nevada business.

There are two grants awarded in the amount of $1,000 each and would support this minority owned business to further their ability to flourish in our community.

 

The Women of Distinction Accelerate Grant

The Women of Distinction Accelerate Grant recognizes and supports the growth of Southern Nevada Startup. This grant will go to a woman owned business in Southern Nevada that is in their first 18 months of business. This grant is to be used for operating expenses that would assist the business to accelerate their business, i.e., marketing, advertising, equipment needed, etc.

Nominees should own 50% or more of their Southern Nevada business.

There are two grants awarded in the amount of $1,000 each and would support this start up business to accelerate to further their ability to flourish in our community.
